January 2007 - Happy New Year

The New Year is a tremendous time to ‘start again’ To put behind us all the failures and pains of the past and start afresh with new hopes and aspirations. To ‘Go for it’ with a new determination.

It’s good to remember that our faith is all about ‘fresh starts’. As Christians we have been ‘born again’ through our faith in Jesus. So in a real sense every day is like a ‘New year’ giving us new opportunities to live for the Lord.

Our Text for the year is a brilliant encouragement to all who feel the challenges ahead are too difficult.

‘I can do everything through Him who gives me strength’
Philippians 4: 13 NIV

The Lord gives us His strength to do the tasks He requires, ‘The will of God will never lead you where the grace and strength of God cannot keep you’, so we move forward in His strength, can I suggest that at the beginning of each day, you ask the Holy Spirit to fill you.

As a Church, St. Thomas’ is facing a challenging year... We want to do so much in our beautiful building but that will require real commitment and sacrifice from people to raise the money required but it will be worth it.
